(Reposted from a six part series on my Instagram page.)
Part #1: BE Shabbos is the most perfect time to start, because that is what Shabbos is all about. Stop doing and start being. Get more help if need be, delegate, be bored. Feels weird and unsettling🤨 You are “being” great!😄 *Added bonus! This Shabbos is the blessing for the new month of LIGHT 💡 (Kislev) It is time to shine yours 👈🏻 Part #2: Feel What is it that you feel when it is just you and your thoughts and feelings? Content Bliss Joy Lonely Disconnected Sad Fearful Inhibited Feel it. Allow it to guide you. *Important to note: Any “feeling” that is outward, toward someone else, is not yours. This is about going inward to you. Part #3: Write down your list of “I would love to’s” Everything gets put down. There are no restrictions of I cannot because... No funds Children Too old Too young Who am I to deserve this I am scared No time Now. Do at least one of the things on your list for a few minutes every day. ———————————————————-- You may put down anything on your list, from reading a new book, to visiting Africa🦒🐅🦓 If you put down something like “I would love to visit Africa,” a few minutes of that would mean googling about Africa/checking out pricing on tickets/where to stay/board an airplane 😜 but seriously 😀 Watch the magic happen! Part #4: Let Go and Let G-d You would love to do great things!... but so many details!!! It whirls around your mind until you just give up🤦♀️ You cannot do it all alone- of course not! “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” (Martin Luther King, Jr) ————————————————————- I am at that crossroad unsettling place Choices to make I am afraid How do I know which way to go? This decision is too big for me. I let go, A thought pops in my head Or that quote points that way. Something I learn or read. When I let go, I can see the guiding light. Part #5: Keep at it There will be loads of moments of wanting to give it all up. Go back to regular, plain ole you. Don’t! The joy and life it will bring into you and your home 🏡 will be well worth the fight 💪🏻 (of course, the person you will be fighting most, is you👈🏻) How does being “selfish” (cough cough) bring light into your home? Simple🤷🏻♀️”Light a candle and it dissipates darkness.” (Alter Rebbe) You light your fire, your surroundings are illuminated. Part #6: (final, for now😄) Testing, Testing Is this passion/interest/self care/hobby, bringing revealed blessings into your life? ———————————————————— Sample: Your list consists of doing yoga. You begin incorporating some yoga into your everyday (or maybe taking a class 1x a week.) Laundry is left unfolded 😌, but your children suddenly seem so much calmer! Suddenly you or your spouse get a bonus at work? And.... Revealed blessings, revealed light in your life. Keep at it💪🏻 |
